License Suspension / Revocation / Reinstatement

Suspension or Revocation

Losing your driving privileges for any period of time can have a significant impact on your everyday life. In Missouri, your license can be suspended or revoked for various reasons, including failure to pay traffic tickets, point accumulation on your record, or alcohol-related offenses. The steps needed to reinstate your license depends on the reason it was suspended or revoked. In some cases, you may need to clear old traffic tickets from your record, while in other cases, you may have to complete a substance awareness traffic offender program (SATOP), file proof of SR-22 insurance, or even install an ignition interlock device on your vehicle. With over 20 years of experience, our attorneys have dealt with every type of situation and know how to get you driving again.

Reinstatement

In Missouri, if you are convicted of DWI twice in 5 years your license will be revoked for 5 years. If you are convicted of DWI three times over any period of time, your license will be revoked for 10 years. Getting your license back after either of these periods is not a simple process. You have to file a Petition in the county in which you received your last DWI conviction, complete a criminal background check, and appear in court for a hearing in front of a judge. If you go through this process on your own and are denied reinstatement, this creates another obstacle for when you try again. This is why it is in your best interest to have an experienced attorney the first time to guide you through each step and prepare you for your hearing.
